Five Things I’ve Missed Most During Class Suspension

Empty school hallway with blue lockers and sunlight shadows on the floor

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, schools have already been suspended since the end of the Chinese New Year holidays. Here are five things I have missed the most. See if you agree with me.

  1. Friends

Friends are very vital. I want to talk to them face-to-face. Every time I go to school, I can have lunch and play with them. We can share a lot and gain support from each other. Before the outbreak, I just took studying with my friends for granted. Well… I won’t think that way now because I have not met them for several months. While some suggest that we can communicate with friends via social media. To me, it would be just like talking to a robot. I really want to see the familiar faces in real life.

  1. School

Before the outbreak, I always had to wake up early for school. It was a bit tiring. I wished I could study at home. During the pandemic, I have to study at home. Learning at home is undoubtedly stressful. Imagine your home becoming your school; that was weird. I don’t have the motivation to study actually. There are a lot of distractions such as my phone. It is far harder to concentrate on revision at home. Oh! I really miss the self-study room at school!

  1. Teachers

Teachers use Zoom to have lessons with us. When I use the computer for lessons, there are fewer interactions. Teachers are like speaking robots behind the screen, and I am the one sitting in front of it. Recalling the past, I could see many interesting interactions between us and teachers in class. All such wonderful scenes have now all gone…

  1. Fresh air

When I go to school, I want to take off my mask and breathe in some fresh air. However, masks are like my only clothes. I cannot take them off in order to prevent getting COVID-19. When I walk on the street, I feel uncomfortable to breathe because of the coronavirus. I have realised that days without masks are precious.

  1. Libraries

Borrowing books these days is not easy thanks to the closure of public libraries. I remember that public libraries were opened for a week. Then they were closed again owing to the increasing number of cases of COVID-19. I went to the library that week and waited for the librarians to distribute tickets. Have you ever imagined that you had to get a ticket to enter a library? That’s unreal! Well… they have been closed again. I miss them since I want to return some books.

I hope everything will be back to normal one day.

Totally agreed with all the points mentioned. I miss them all, and Zoom lessons are boring especially for the Science lessons (NO EXPERIMENTS ARGHHHHHHH:weary:….).
