Five of the World’s Most Famous Museums

If you find visiting museums in Hong Kong boring, you can consider visiting museums in other countries after the pandemic!

 

The British Museum

The British Museum is the world’s biggest museum. In the museum, you can find a lot of different sculptures and exhibitions. If you are interested in world history, you can visit to find out more. The galleries have numerous artefacts such as the Rosetta stone and the sarcophagus of the last Egyptian pharaoh. If you want to know more about the history of Egypt, you may plan to go to this museum. Also, you can discover some antiques which were stolen from China in the Siege of the International Legations (八國聯軍之役). If you like studying Chinese History, why don’t you go there?

 

Forbidden City

Forbidden City is the most prestigious museum in China. In 1987 it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.  Have you ever wondered what life was like as an emperor in the Qing Dynasty? How did they live? What did they wear? There are thirteen galleries featuring art, furniture and the lives of various emperors of China. If you love calligraphy, you can visit there too. There are so many exhibitions in the museum!

 

Tokyo National Museum

Have you ever wondered why Japanese write so many great comics and stories? This museum shows the history of Japanese artworks and antiquities in Japan. Have you ever imagined how the Japanese lived in the ancient world? If you visit Heiseikan (平成館), you will know a lot. Heiseikan is also a place for special exhibitions such as Momoyama: Artistic Visions in a Turbulent Century. You can know what happened in the Azuchi-Momoyama period if you are interested in Japanese political history.

 

The Musée du Louvre

There is a tale in this museum. Dominique-Vivant Denon has lived in the louvre for over two centuries, mingling with artists, curators, museum attendants, visitors. If you want to know more about Dominique, you may try participating in a guided tour. You may ask the tour guide about this special person. If you want to know more about the Mona Lisa and its painter, do not hesitate to visit! If you want to travel to Paris, do not forget to visit this renowned museum!

 

National Museum of Korea

This museum was built in 1945. It is the best-known museum in Korea. In the permanent exhibition, you can know a lot of Korean history ranging from prehistory to early modern history. Have you ever thought the reason why Korea developed rapidly? You will know the answer from this museum. The museum also features some ancient artworks and calligraphies, if you are interested in arts, you can go to this museum to see more!
