How to be Successful
I believe that it is quite a challenging question for everyone. Let’s be honest. Success is hard. However, we can apply some tactics in order to attain success more easily.
First, we need to think big. ‘The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aims too high and falling short, but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark,” said Michelangelo Buonarroti, great Renaissance artist. Before doing anything, we need to have our aim and target. As the saying goes, well begun is half done. For example, I got only fourteen out of twenty-eight in the English speaking examination. So I may set an aim to get twenty in the next examination.
Second, we need to be a person of action. Actions speak louder than words. After we have our planning, we need to have some corresponding actions based on our aim so as to achieve success. For example, I set an aim to have twenty out of twenty-eight in the next English speaking examination. I may need to expand my vocabulary and equip myself with useful phrases for the purpose of explaining my views more clearly and accurately. Words are good, but deeds are better.
Third, we need to be willing to work hard. ‘Genius is one per cent inspirations and ninety-nine per cent perspiration,’ said Thomas Edison. We need to keep on practising the same thing with an aim to become skilful. In every aspect, whether studying or playing computer games, practice makes perfect. I believe if you have tasted the bitterest of the bitter, you will become the greatest of great. There are no gains without pains.
Forth, we shouldn’t be afraid of failure. ‘Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently,” said Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motors. The first thing we need to know is that life is not a bed of roses. We can’t be successful every time in every aspect; failure is a very common and normal thing. So it is unnecessary to take failure too seriously; Otherwise, it may just bring us a negative impact. When you encounter failure, please keep calm and remember one thing: when one door shuts, another opens. All we need to do is to gain the experience to help ourselves do better next time.
Last but not least, we should learn how to balance our life as success is not the sole purpose of our whole life. As Phil Knight, CEO of Nike Inc, once said, ‘There is immutable conflict at work in life and in business, a constant battle between peace and chaos. Neither can be mastered, but both can be influenced. How you go about it is the key to success.”
Hope the above tips inspire you!
